Our 2022 Rosé of Pinot Noir is a beautiful and delicate example of why Russian River Valley Pinot Noir makes a wonderful rosé. The wine reveals a beautiful, light salmon color that catches the light in the glass and opens up to aromas of tangerine, wild strawberry, raspberry, a light touch of watermelon and perfumed rose petals. A crisp, refreshing mouthfeel accentuates the fresh fruit flavors of red berry fruit and a tropical twist that leads to a long, juicy and tangy finish. It is the perfect warm weather wine to enjoy all season.

And, here we go again! Yes, I know I said that last year, but here we go again! After what looked like a promising season last fall, the first three months of the year came in to be the driest on record. Even with some solid rain in the spring, all of California continues a third year of what is now called a mega-drought, affecting much of the western U.S.
As in other drought years, careful monitoring of the vine needs and soil moisture got us through a difficult season. A huge benefit was a perfect spring/summer season with no weather extremes. This was followed by a beautiful August and the return of the fog. We picked the fruit for the rosé slightly earlier than normal at our estate vineyards – Vine Hill –on August 17th and 18th and Owlsey on August 30th and 31st. The fruit gave us just perfect flavors and acidity.
